Medical Cannabis A Balanced Evidence Based Look Beyond the Propaganda Meredith K Converse 9781500868932 Books
With medical marijuana so much in the news recently, this book takes a balanced look at the use of cannabis for medical purposes, from a scientific, evidence-based perspective as well as from a historical and sociological one. It examines both the scientific evidence that medical cannabis can alleviate the symptoms of various syndromes and also examines the history of marijuana, the myths surrounding it, how it has impacted society, and what its detractors say about it.The author explains what cannabis is, how it is used medically as well as recreationally, the history of its use in other cultures and in the United States, and the history of the banning of marijuana. Much of the book, however, is devoted to the medical uses of cannabis, including the use of synthetic alternatives and issues like addiction and the concept of marijuana as a gateway drug. The use of medical cannabis for glaucoma, pain, nausea, seizures, multiple sclerosis and a variety of other symptoms and illnesses is covered, as is the likely future of medical cannabis, whether it will be taken over by big pharma, and what impact it might have on mainstream medicine in general.

Medical Cannabis A Balanced Evidence Based Look Beyond the Propaganda Meredith K Converse 9781500868932 Books Reviews
Nothing new here!
Good book if you like details
very informative about what is going on in the medical field with cannabis
A very high-level and short book about the medical aspects of cannabis. Not enough detail to be of any value to me as a cancer patient.
Nice and detailed information on current medical marijuana strains for different medical uses.
I have never used marijuana. Since it has been in the news a lot, and certainly hearing obviously biased opinions from both sides, I decided to look into this cebate, and form my own opinion on the matter. I wasn't really against it before, I thought it should have been legal a long time ago, but I am not really invested either way.
This book has a lot of great information, from Cannabis's beginnings, through the inevitable classification as an illegal substance, and a lot inbetween. It delves into the science of the drug, and even ventures into politics for awhile, which is always a touchy subject.
I think that, while the author obviously has an opinion regarding cannabis, she does a very good job keeping that opinion in check, and dealing with data and facts. It is laid out coherently, and in a very easy to read way. I definitely learned a lot from it, and definitely have a much more positive look on medical cannabis as a result.
I just received an incredible education! It felt like I sat down in a class for a few hours and learned everything there was to know about Cannabis! It was very interesting, the author does a really good job of capturing your interest and keeping it. I sometimes have a hard time with non fiction, but not this one.
I thought that I knew everything there was to know about Cannabis... I didn't. Do yourself a favor, educate yourself. Read this book with an open mind, and I promise you will be amazed. I wasn't aware how deep our planet's history with the cannabis plant really went.
The author goes through the extensive history of marijuanna, including medical and recreational.... leading all the way up to today... and we all know that there is major changes going on in the cannabis laws now.
I would recommend this book to everyone, and I will! It is information that everyone needs. And the next time I get into a discussion with someone that is ignorant of the facts, I am going to direct them to this book.
